A code on the pack that answers to the barcode
GS1 Digital Link puts the product's own identifier in the URL, so one code on the pack can serve a recipe, a spec sheet or a recall notice depending on what is asked for.
What GS1 Digital Link is
A URL that carries the GTIN — and optionally the batch, serial or expiry — in a standard shape, so any system that understands the standard can read the identity out of the link without being told what it means. It is what turns a QR code on a pack into something more than a bookmark.
We host the resolver: you register the identifier, set what it resolves to, and change that later without touching the artwork.
Why the destination has to be changeable
Packaging is printed in runs of hundreds of thousands and sits in warehouses for a year. Anything you point it at today will have moved before the last unit is sold, and a recall is exactly the moment you cannot afford a dead link.
What you learn
Scans by country and region, which on a physical product is a distribution map you cannot get any other way — it tells you where the stock actually ended up, not where you shipped it.
